Laird Electric Inc. is currently accepting resumes for the full-time position of Receptionist based in our Edmonton Corporate office. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing general office administration.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
- Answer telephones, schedule meetings, greet visitors and handle business and administrative details;
- use various computer software to assist in preparing reports, memos, letters and other documents;
- open, sort and distribute correspondence (including faxes and electronic mail) and respond to routine inquiries;
- maintain office supplies;
- provide purchase orders as required;
- operate office equipment such as fax machines, photocopiers, voicemail messaging systems and computer scanning equipment; and
- assist in arranging special events;
The following skills and qualifications are required:
- Related post-secondary education;
- experience in an office environment;
- intermediate to advanced computer skills;
- excellent customer service skills;
- strong attention to detail;
- the ability to work independently or as part of a team;
- exceptional communication skills;

To provide timely and accurate scheduling, planning and job cost information while maintaining up-to-date rate and schedule information as well as performance.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for providing overall project direction for cost and schedule development and reporting between Procurement and Construction during the execution of projects;
- develop and/or maintain the projects resource loaded, CPM schedule in P3 or P6;
- update weekly progress and track activity trends and provide supporting reports as required;
- develop, document and evolve approved job costing procedures, sheets and forms;
- develop cost trends, cost and progress reports and other documents required to accurately forecast job expenditures at completion;
- manage change order requests;
- create and send out 'job description sheets’ to site and office personnel to be used as a reference for coding purchase orders and timesheets as per job costing procedures;
- gather, verify and enter all quantity and other production-related information into (CMS) for each reporting period;
- run, review and distribute job costing information on a scheduled basis via CMS and immediately inform the Project Manager of any issues;
- responsible for planning/scheduling, progress reporting, resource assessment, cost reporting and analysis for the project(s);
- work with Contract Administrator to ensure all project costs are accurately and completely reflected;
- enter, maintain and control equipment setup and issue reports monthly or as needed; and
- other duties as required.
Technical Skills:
- Business Administration degree, accounting diploma or other relevant post-secondary education;
- at least five (5) years experience in all aspects of job costing, planning and contract administration;
- knowledge in planning I&E construction, Primavera (P3, P5 and P6);
- accounting designation an asset;
- advanced computer skills; and
- experience in CMS & SAP is an asset.

Laird Electric Inc. is currently accepting resumes for the full-time position of IT Desktop Support Technician based in our Ft. McMurray office.
Job Overview
To provide desktop support services to our employees and ensure that the service levels are achieved. The Support Technician will identify problems and will implement solutions for both hardware and software issues. This position will be based in our Ft. McMurray town office and will require work at our sites in the Ft. McMurray area, and as such you will be challenged to manage tight timelines and conflicting priorities on an ongoing basis. CSTS & OSSA are required to get on the sites.
Key Accountabilities
- Respond to client inquiries/issues that come through via email, phone, or IssueTrak system in a professional manner;
- apply best practices (ITIL-based) methodology to problem management, incident management and change management disciplines;
- provide first- and second-level desktop support, phone support, and remote tools;
respond in a timely fashion to Trouble-Tickets raised in the Help Desk queue for desktop service;
- escalation to the Director of IT and liaison with third-party vendor or client as required;
- participate and contribute to service improvement plans;
- build services relationships with clients; and
- build relationships with vendors, ensuring all escalations are handled with vendors in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications
- Completion of High School Diploma essential;
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related field is an asset;
- hardware/software vendor certifications are beneficial (MCSA, MCP, A+, ITIL V3, DELL, etc.);
- four plus years experience in a support role;
- ownership and responsibility for problem resolution;
- part of a team working toward accomplishing a common goal;
- good verbal and written communication skills;
- strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, deliver to timescales; and

work on all aspects of troubleshooting mission-critical 24/7 client operations.
